Blizzard is planning a Real-Money Auction House which is yet to be fully implemented. There is a way to use this AH with a PayPal account in order to get money out of the game, you need an SMS capable cell phone linked to your battle.net account in order to satisfy Blizzard's security requirements. Alternatively the money you make can go into your Battle.net account which you can not make withdraws from, but you can make purchases on the RMAH from your balance. The Real-Money Auction House will also feature a Game Currency exchange system where players can buy and sell game currency for real money. There are already Asian Gold farming companies offering D3 Gold and power-leveling service in the Global general chat channels.

Regular Characters in D3 will lose 10% Gear Durability and revive at the last Checkpoint when killed. If you die during a boss fight you must restart from the beginning, so if you are unable to complete a boss fight you will not be able to advance further in the game. You may also create Hardcore characters which only have 1 life, when they die you lose the character and all items they were carrying. The Auction House is separate for Regular and Hardcore characters; also all of your characters will share a small Stash Space and Currency Wallet which are separate between regular and hardcore toons. The Stash begins with 14 slots, most items require 2 slots to store. The Stash may be expanded by 14 slots for 10k, up to a maximum of 70 slots. There are 3 70 slots tabs for the Stash, unlocking the 2nd tab costs 100k, unlocking the third tab costs 200k. You can also store up to 50 items in the Auction House Completed Tab. The Character inventory consists of 60 slots and you can use alt characters to mule some of your loots if they're not being played. The Auction House allows you to select items to sell from your stash or character's inventories, the items must be fully repaired in order to be listed.

There are 5 Character Classes in the game; and you get a maximum of 10 character slots to use, so you could have 1 character of each class for regular and hardcore. The Classes are: Barbarian, Monk, Demon Hunter, Wizard, Witch Doctor. Each class has a primary attribute which will give them a damage multiplier. There are a total of 4 attributes: Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, Vitality. Strength is the Primary Attribute for the Barbarian, it will also add some armor bonus to any class. Intelligence is the Primary Attribute for the Wizard and Witch Doctor, it will also add damage resists to any class. Dexterity is the Primary Attribute for the Monk and the Demon Hunter, it will also add some armor bonus to any class. Vitality affects your total Health Pool and is essential for every class.

Magic, Rare and Legendary Gear is the thing that makes or breaks a character build, these items can have multiple bonuses on them including but not limited to attribute bonuses. Some gear from level 15 and up may have sockets, sockets can be used with gems. There are 4 different types of gems, but there are many levels of quality for each gem type. Higher quality gems will provide bigger bonuses when socketed into gear. The highest rated weapons available above level 14 will always have a socket on them; because rubies will add damage when socketed in weapons, therefore the total DPS may be improved above the base value. The Base Values of DPS or Armor rating vary by the level of the gear; Armor items at level 50 or above may have an additional Armor rating added by an enchantment on the item. Armor rating is not always the best indication of protection that the item will provide, since Dexterity, Strength or Intelligence bonuses can add to the protection value.

There are 4 levels of difficulty to the Diablo 3 campaign: Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno mode. Each mode has to be unlocked sequentially. The highest tier of gear can only be farmed from Inferno Mode, which can be quite difficult if not properly geared. But some Legendary items are available from early in the game, even in Normal mode. The better drops tend to be quite rare; most items are of inferior quality when compared to similar items of the same level, many of your drops will be almost completely worthless junk.

The game can be played as a single player game with an NPC companion that will provide bonuses; or in Cooperative mode with up to 4 players. You can earn points for a variety of Achievements in the game, some achievements unlock player banner options. Your personal banner design will be displayed in the game during cooperative play.

The Gem types include: Ruby, Amethyst, Topaz, Emerald.

Rubies add damage when socketed in weapons; bonus XP per monster kill when socketed in helms, and bonus strength in other items.

Amethyst adds a HP gain per hit when socketed in weapons; a % bonus to HP in helms, and a vitality bonus in other items.

Topaz adds Thorns dmg when socketed in weapons; a % to Magic Find in helms, and an intelligence bonus in other items.

Emeralds add Crit Hit dmg when socketed in weapons, a % to Gold Find in helms, and a dexterity bonus in other items.

It might be worth mentioning that Diablo 1 and 2 were developed by Blizzard North, a branch of the company that was essentially fired.

The developers from Blizzard North went on to create another Diablo style game called Torchlight; and they are expected to release Torchlight 2 in the near future. The Torchlight games are currently available via Steam.
